Barcode reader
About the Barcode Reader
The Barcode Reader decodes common 1D barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code 128 and others) from uploaded images.
How to use it
- Upload an image containing a barcode.
- The tool returns the encoded value.
Privacy
Decoding happens locally; the image is not uploaded.
Not every barcode is next to a scanner. Sometimes you have a photo of a product label, a screenshot of a shipping slip, or a saved image of a code, and you need the number encoded inside it. The Barcode Reader decodes common linear (1D) barcodes straight from an image you provide.
It works with the familiar retail and logistics symbologies — EAN and UPC product codes, Code 128, and several others — and returns the encoded value so you can look the item up, verify a part number, or transcribe it elsewhere.
How to Use the Barcode Reader
- Upload an image that contains a barcode.
- Read the decoded value in the output area.
- Copy or use the number that the code represents.
Practical Use Cases
Read a product barcode from a photo to check a price or inventory number, transcribe a barcode from a scanned document when you cannot rescan the original, and recover a shipping or tracking code captured in an image.
Privacy
Decoding runs locally against the image you choose. The picture, and the number it contains, is not sent to a server — which matters when the code sits on a delivery note or an internal label you would rather keep private.
Barcode reading — common questions
Which barcode types are supported?
The reader handles the common linear (1D) symbologies such as EAN, UPC and Code 128. These cover retail products, inventory and many logistics labels.
Does it read QR codes too?
QR codes are a two-dimensional format and are covered by the site's separate QR reader. This tool is for the one-dimensional barcodes found on product and shipping labels.
Does the image leave my device?
No. The image is decoded in your browser, so neither the picture nor the encoded number is uploaded.
