Color converter
About the Color Converter
The Color Converter translates between HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK representations of the same color. Designers use it when porting palettes between CSS, design tools and print workflows.
How to use it
- Pick a color with the picker or paste a value.
- The output shows all common representations.
- Copy the format you need.
Notes
- CMYK is an approximation; not all RGB colors are reproducible in print.
- Pre-calibrated profiles vary by printer, paper and ink.
A single color has many names depending onwhere you are working: CSS talks in HEX or RGB, design apps favor HSL, and print production moves in CMYK. This color converter keeps all four representations in sync, so a hue you pick invo one format is immediately available in the others.
Choose the color with the picker or paste a value you already have, and the tool renders the color visually while reporting the equivalent HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK values for wherever you need them next.
How to Use the Color Converter
- Pick a color with the built-in picker or paste a HEX, RGB or HSL value.
- The output shows the same color in HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK at the same time.
- Copy the format that matches your destination — CSS for web, a design tool for layouts, CMYK for print.
Practical Use Cases
Port a brand palette between CSS files and design tools, translate a hex code into CMYK for a print run, match a color across a website, a deck and an invoice, anyway to keep every stakeholder reading the same tone whichever tool they use.
Color converter — common questions
Is CMYK always an exact match to the screen color?
No. CMYK is an approximation:not every RGB color device displaysis reproducible in print ink, and results vary by printer, paper and profile. Use the CMYK output as a starting point for print rather than a guarantee.
Why are there so many formats for the same color?
Each format suits a medium:HEX and RGB for screens and code, HSL is more intuitive for adjusting hue, saturation and lightness, and CMYK reflects how ink mixes for print production.
Can I paste an existing value to convert it?
Yes. Entering a value in a supported format pulls the color inand the tool fills in all the other representations for you.
