User agent parser
About the User-Agent Parser
The User-Agent Parser identifies browser, engine and operating system from a UA string. It is a quick diagnostic for log analysis, customer support and bot detection.
How to use it
- Paste one or more UA strings.
- The parser breaks them into browser, OS and device type.
- Copy the parsed rows.
Limitations
UA strings are easily spoofed. Use the parser for analytics, not for security decisions.
A User-Agent (UA** string is a dense, hard-to-read blob that every browser sends about itself. This parser unwraps it to tell you, at a glance, which browser, browser engine, operating system and device type produced that request.
You can feed it one string or several, and it turns each into a tidy row you can copy for your notes, reports or log-analysis work. That turns a wall of semicolon-separated tokens into something you can actually read.
How to Use the User-Agent Parser
- Paste one or more User-Agent strings, one per line.
- The tool breaks each string intobrowser, OS, engine and device type.
- Copy the parsed rows for your logs, analytics or support notes.
Practical Use Cases
Make sense of raw web-server or CDN logs, answer customer support questions about which browser a visitor is using, spot device types while triaging analytics data, and sanity-check the clients hitting your API before writing more tooling around them.
User-Agent parsing — common questions
Can I trust the browser a UA string claims?
Mostly for analytics, but not for security. User-Agent strings are easily spoofed, so treat the detected browser as a hint for traffic analysis rather than as proof of identity.
Can I parse several strings at once?
Yes. Paste multiple User-Agent strings, one per line, and each is broken out into its own readable row.
Why would a log show an unfamiliar UA?
Bots, scripts and older tools send their own UA strings that do not look like a normal browser. Parsing them helps you tell a bot from a real visitor while reviewing your traffic.
